Widow: Four victims were watching football when they were shot
05:51 PM CST on Tuesday, November 18, 2008
HOUSTON – Gunmen dressed in black broke into a home in southeast Houston late Monday night and opened fire on the people inside.
They ordered all five people to hit the ground, then shot four of them.
“At least two, possibly three or four suspects entered this residence on Seabrook. Home invasion. They put the five people inside the house on the ground and shots were fired,” said HPD Detective M.F. Waters.
One victim died at the scene. He's been identified as 27-year-old Donald Moore.
Three more were wounded and taken to area hospitals.
The fifth person inside the home wasn't hurt. He's the one who called police.
AIR 11
Dozens of people gathered outside the home where four people were shot.
Moore's widow, Avis Knox, said her husband was just visiting and watching football with friends when the intruders broke in and began shooting.
Knox is hoping the killers will be caught.
“The only thing I can think about is ‘what am I going to tell my kids?’” she said.
Police admit that solving this crime will take time.
“…very difficult. It ain’t CSI. We don’t do this in an hour unfortunately -- holograms and all that stuff,” said Detective Waters.
AIR 11
While police continue their investigation, a long time resident of the neighborhood told 11 News that the house is a drug haven and that people come and go at all hours of the day and night.
The neighbor did not reveal her name because she feared for her life.
