HOUSTON—Former first lady Barbara Bush could be going home as soon as Wednesday, a Bush family spokesperson said Monday.

Mrs. Bush underwent surgery for a bleeding ulcer last week.

Surgeons patched and closed a one-centimeter hole in Bush’s stomach, which was caused by the ulcer.

Right now, Mrs. Bush is recovering at Methodist Hospital.

The spokesperson said the former first lady and her husband, former President Bush, are passing the time by watching movies in her hospital room.
