HOUSTON—Fort Bend County detectives are looking for potential victims of an alleged child predator.

On Dec. 17, 2008, a sexual assault involving several kids under the age of 8 was reported in the Townewest Subdivision.

Detectives said Robert Wayne Fort, 59, was babysitting children with his wife when the alleged assault occurred.

They say Fort and his wife operated a day care out of their home for years. The day care was not licensed and may have been operating illegally, say state officials.

Thomas Flores’s son went to that day care. Flores remembers how his son stopped wanting to go to Fort’s house.

“I would come bring him over here and when we’d get to the door he’d say, ‘no, no daddy, I don’t want to go,’” said Flores. He now fears the worst.

Fort’s next door neighbor even complained at he touched her mother-in-law on the bottom. “She told me not to go over there anymore and then she told me what happened to her,” said Susanna Awetisana.

Fort is a former Alief ISD teacher and has been involved in Boy Scouts and Youth Ministry.

Most recently, he was a floor manager for a major department store in the First Colony Mall.

Detectives said Fort admitted to assaulting several kids and exposing himself.

He was taken into custody at the mall and is currently being held in the Fort Bend County Jail on $300,000 bond.

He’s been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and four counts indecency with a child for exposing himself.

Two other children have also come forward saying Fort inappropriately touched them.
