HOUSTON—A former wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to drug charges.
Reggie Williams was sentenced to 2 years deferred adjudication, a $200 fine, 120 hours of community service and a drug and alcohol evaluation after pleading guilty to possession of cocaine.
Williams was arrested in April after a scuffle at a Houston bar.
Security officers said they asked him to leave, and he became combative.
They used a Taser on Williams and then called an ambulance to check him out.
When he was taken to jail, officers found cocaine in his pocket.
Williams has been in trouble with the law before.
He was arrested by Houston police in February and charged with DWI and possession of marijuana. Both charges were later dismissed.
He was also arrested by Jacksonville police in January 2006 and charged with possession of marijuana.
Williams was permitted to enter a pretrial intervention program, which allowed him to avoid criminal charges.
Williams was a first-round draft pick for the Jaguars in 2004.
He became an unrestricted free agent after the 2008 season.
