HOUSTON—A high school student was shot in the neck by a TSU student at a bus stop near campus Tuesday, according to police.
The TSU student said he shot the teen in self-defense.
It happened around 11:30 a.m. at Cleburne and Tierwester in Southeast Houston.
The university student was sitting near campus at a Metro bus stop when he was approached by two Yates High School students and a former student, police said.
"According to the robbery victim, the suspect had a gun in his waistband, displayed it and made demands for money and a cell phone," said HPD Sgt. G. Gonzales. "According to the robbery victim, he was able to get one of the guns away from one of the suspects and during the struggle, another suspect in the robbery was shot in the neck."
The robbery suspect was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital. His condition isn't known.
The other two suspects were arrested at the scene.
A small amount of marijuana was found in the TSU student's bag, but it's not clear if he will face any charges.
