HOUSTON—If you’ve driven down Allen Parkway lately, you’ve seen the preparations for Houston’s big Fourth of July celebration.

Currently, a few lanes of Allen Parkway are closed between Taft and downtown.

Starting Saturday morning at 7 a.m., the road will be completely closed to traffic.

There will also be several side street closures in the immediate area.

Officials say to use Memorial Drive as an alternative.

Allen Parkway will start opening back up Sunday, after the Freedom Over Texas festival is over.
