Boy who took principal's car on joy ride strikes again
01:15 PM CDT on Thursday, July 2, 2009
HOUSTON - An 11-year-old student with special needs was pulled over by police for running a stop sign after he took his teacher's car for a joy ride earlier this week.
The boy took his teacher's car keys Monday at the Academic and Behavior Center East after telling her he needed to return to the bathroom, which he had just gone to. He headed to the parking lot for her car.
Police called school officials two hours later saying they had pulled him over after he ran a stop sign, the Houston Chronicle reported.
No injuries were reported.
He also took an assistant principal's car for a brief ride in March 2008.
School officials say the student will be reassigned to a school with a "more controlled environment."
