Houston Tea Party Society to rally at Discovery Green
08:17 PM CDT on Friday, July 3, 2009
HOUSTON -- The Houston Tea Party Society is setting the stage for what some anticipate will be the largest tea party demonstration in the nation this holiday weekend.
The demonstration will be held at Discovery Green on Saturday, July 4th.
“I think it will make a difference, and I think the goal of the Houston Tea Party Association is to get the voice of common American out there so the government understands we’re not going to stand idly by watching them do whatever they want with our money,” said Heriberto Latigo.
This will be the third protest held by the Houston Tea Party Society.
Back in April, thousands of protestors showed up in Downtown Houston, with gripes ranging from socialism to pirates and rising debt.
Governor Rick Perry fired up the crowd with what some say were extremely conservative views.
Organizers of the Houston Tea Party Society said the focus is not about Democrats versus Republicans or left versus right.
Their message is to place focus on people from all walks in life. They are united in a common belief that a constrained government is a good government.
