Mario Gomez: Temperatures today are hot as a firecracker
10:38 AM CDT on Saturday, July 4, 2009
HOUSTON -- Conditions are hot and dry across the state of Texas. We can expect to see some triple digit temperatures as our Fourth of July weekend forecast is another sizzler.
During our freedom fest celebrations this weekend, Saturday and Sunday highs are expected to hit 100 degrees in the city.
"it is now the third day in a row that we have experienced 100 degree weather. Records are within reach to be broken all weekend." Said Gomez.
It will be a little cooler along the coastal region.
Galveston will have a high around 92 degrees and may see some isolated showers.
People celebrating at Lake Conroe can expect the temperatures to reach 101 degrees.
The coming week will provide a little relief because as our chances for rain go up, the temperatures will come down.
We may see some showers Monday through Thursday with a 30 percent chance of rain.
As we celebrate, the key to getting through these hot conditions is to remember to keep the body hydrated and wear plenty of sunscreen and light clothing.
Always remember the more vulnerable because they are more susceptible to heat- related casualties.
Keep close watch on the elderly, infirmed, young and pets.
