HPD officer hit by suspected drunk driver
11:09 AM CDT on Thursday, October 15, 2009
HOUSTON – A Houston police officer is recovering after being hit by a suspected drunk driver early Thursday morning.
It happened at the entrance ramp to the East Freeway at Normandy in east Houston.
Police say traffic was backed up in the area because of an earlier accident.
They say the officer who was injured was parked on that entrance ramp to stop drivers from getting on the freeway.
A woman apparently didn’t see the officer’s patrol car and slammed right into it, say police.
The unidentified woman was arrested for suspicion of DWI.
There is no word yet on the officer’s condition.
