ARLINGTON - Some 24,000 cars will be filing into the construction-logged streets near the Cowboys Stadium over the weekend. That concert congestion has some shuttle services thinking twice about their operations.

Free rides are offered to the Texas Rangers Ballpark for every home game. Fans take a seat and let the driver behind the wheel weave in and out of traffic.

The shuttle service at Lincoln Square Mall on Collins Street attracts nearly 500 people each game.

Now, Shane Creek wants to get his buses on the road to the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium starting Saturday for the George Strait concert.

"I have the drivers available, the extra buses if needed," he said. "And again, we know the route pretty good."

But, the buses will stay parked

The mall, with the approval of several business owners, decided to put the brakes on the service for this weekend's big event.

"We are not sure how it's going to work out," said Pam Lawson, manager at Lincoln Square Mall. "We want to make sure the mobility is there for us."

This weekend will be the official opening of Cowboys Stadium.

News 8 learned that at least one other shuttle operator is also taking a backseat due to concerns that they will be stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic on their way to the new stadium, leading to frustrated concert goers.

This Saturday, the mall will instead run a traffic survey to see if the shuttle should hit the road for future events.

"If we are going to do the project, we want to do it right so we'll know the hurdles going into it and we will overcome those hurdles before we set the bus in motion," Lawson said.
