TABC to investigate Cowboys Stadium after GM arrested

ARLINGTON -- The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission is investigating liquor sales at Cowboys Stadium after the venue's general manager was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated early Sunday.
Sgt. Terry Parsons in the Fort Worth district office said the investigation is in the early stages, and a field agent is awaiting the release of Arlington's police report. Jack Hill, previously the construction manager for the stadium, was arrested after he was involved in a traffic accident following the opening night concert headlined by George Strait.
Cowboys officials said this week that they were aware of the situation but declined to comment further.
Police said that Hill appeared to be intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test. Tiara Ellis Richard, an Arlington police spokeswoman, said that Hill was given a breath test, but she declined to release the results.
No one was seriously injured in the accident, which occurred right in front of the stadium, and police said initially appeared to be the fault of the other driver.
Carolyn Beck, an Austin-based spokeswoman for TABC, said the agency conducts a "source" investigation when there is a drunken driving accident that causes serious injury or death. That type of investigation seeks to find the source of the alcohol and determine how it was served.
Parsons said that since there wasn't a serious injury in this accident, it's being looked into differently. An agent is investigating this as a possible employee intoxicated on a licensed premise. He said that any possible penalty would be a civil rather than a criminal one.
The recommended penalty for a first offense would be a license suspension of 17 to 25 days or a $300 per day fine. The license holder would have the choice of taking the fine or suspension. The top end of that fine scale would be $7,500.
The TABC started investigating this case after seeing media coverage of Hill's arrest.
