DALLAS — Two 13-year-old girls are caught in a web of prostitution. The outrage starts with the girls' families, but it doesn't stop there.
Police say one of the 13-year-olds was stripping and selling her body for money at a Dallas club after being invited there by a friend at her school who is also 13.
The grandmother of one of the girls told News 8 she can't believe what she's hearing. She said her granddaughter is an outgoing, good student and a member of her middle school dance team.
"She's not hard up for money," the grandmother said. "She gets whatever she wants."
The grandmother said the girl who led her granddaughter to the club was misleading. "I think she had her thinking she was going to a teenage club or something."
But police say the woman's granddaughter was being prostituted by that "friend."
"Does your granddaughter look like a teenager?" we asked the grandmother. "She looks like a little girl," was her reply.
The family of teenaged pimp said they had no idea. "I don't believe she was prostituting," said her brother. "I know my sister, and she is not that way."
Police and family members say Club Metropolis near Love Field should be held accountable, even though its owners haven't been charged with any crime.
"That place needs to be closed down, investigated, the owners run out of town, or something," said the girl's grandmother.
Dallas city council member Elba Garcia agrees. She and city staff are looking at the club's records. "We do have the tools, Rebecca, and this is not acceptable," Garcia said.
Police investigators are also checking out another club, Diamond's Cabaret, where they say a 12-year-old was found dancing naked a few months ago. Several people were arrested there.
The grandmother of the teenage prostitute hopes more arrests will follow. "I know good and well they knew they had little girls up in that club," she said.
