MESQUITE — Mesquite police are investigating the drowning of a two-year-old girl.

Investigators said Brinte Cyrus lost an inflatable "floatie" while swimming Sunday evening at the Eastfield Plaza apartments in the 2600 block of John West Road.

Brinte was discovered at the bottom in eight feet of water.

Police said it appears to have been a tragic accident.
