This week's HP Byron Nelson Junior Championship was dominated by Jordan Spieth, a sophomore from Dallas Jesuit.
He won the tournament by 11 shots, shooting a second round 9-under par 62.
Then there is 13-year old Scottie Sheffler, an 8th grader at Highland Park Middle School.
A final round 72 proved he can keep up with kids 4 or 5 years older.
"It's fun, I mean, because they hit it so much further than me, but I get good experience out of it," he said.
"Playing with older kids takes a certain level of maturity, and I think he's demonstrated that he has that now," Sheffler's mother Diane said.
As young as Scheffler is, he's already got competition in his age group from a guy who's even younger.
William Zalatoris from Plano won't be 13 until August, and he's already qualified for the USGA Junior Championship.
"My goal a few years ago, I put some things down, and that was to play in this," Zalatoris said. "After my success this year, I stepped up and I looked at the qualifying round, and I'm like, 'well I can qualify for this' I'm just extremely happy to be there."
Zalatoris is entering the 8th grade at Renner Middle School and is the fourth-youngest player to qualify for the USGA Juniors.
When he was about four months old, I started playing again," his mom Cathie said. "We would go out on Sunday afternoon take turns holding him. As he got older and absorbed what was going on, he thought that was what he was supposed to do too when he was physically able."
Both of them, they're just going to be so good in a few years," said Spieth, the tournament champion. "I mean, they're already amazing for their age group, but if they're competition against guys who are five years older than them, imagine what they do when they're the old ones."
Like Spieth, it means their future is bright too.
