At least three wounded in South Dallas shootings
06:11 PM CDT on Friday, October 30, 2009
DALLAS — At least three people were shot Friday afternoon when two groups of people opened fire over a possible drug deal, police said.
The gunfire erupted during an argument at the corner of South Central Expressway and Metropolitan Avenue. Rodney Harris said one of the victims approached him for help.
"He ran out to the end of the parking lot and he was collapsed," Harris said. "He had lost a lot of blood, and looked as if his arm was broken; he said he couldn't feel his legs."
Harris said he called 911 after seeing another victim down the street.
"I couldn't tell whether he was shot in the head, but he was bloody from the waist down; he was in bad shape," Harris said.
At least some of the participants then drove to a second location at Meadow Street and Warren Avenue where more gunfire was reported.
The condition of the victims was not available. Police said there may be others with gunshot wounds who did not wait for treatment.
With so many bullets flying police said it is fortunate that no innocent people were caught in the crossfire.
