Dallas firefighters attack the flames at the residence in the 7900 block of Silverdale Drive.

DALLAS — It had been his home since he was a child. But now the victim of a fire is left with only rubble.

Dallas firefighters were called to the one story-home in the 7900 block of Silverdale Drive shortly after midnight Wednesday.

The owner, whose name was not available, was away from the small, one-story home when the one-alarm fire broke out. He arrived a short time later after neighbors called.

The man had lived in the house for more than 40 years.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
