Garland man killed when truck crashes into Trinity River
02:29 PM CST on Saturday, November 14, 2009
KAUFMAN COUNTY — A Garland man was found dead Saturday after his pickup truck left U.S. 80 and crashed into the Trinity River.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the 1993 Ford pickup was discovered submerged around 10:20 a.m. in the East Fork of the river along the eastbound lanes of the highway. It was not known how long the vehicle had been in the water.
The driver was identified as Charles Allen Pickett, 57, of Garland. A DPS spokesman said an investigation into the single-vehicle accident is under way, but said troopers had no reason to suspect foul play.
